About House of Cards & Collectables

House of Cards and Collectibles opened in August 2014 by two friends with a profound interest in sports cards and comics. With a combined experience of over 60 years and having been in competition with each other in the late 80’s into the mid 90’s, a unique business relationship and friendship ensued that exists to this day.

When a small retail space became available, House of Cards and Collectibles was born as a fun hobby and for two semi-retired friends to have “something fun to do”.

Inventory consisted of personal baseball, football and basketball cards along with comics, action figures, Starting Line-Ups, die-cast cars and other memorabilia that had been collected over the years. Additional inventory was added through walk-in purchases and through suppliers.

In late 2015 early 2016 a purchase was made of thousands upon thousands of cards which included all types of sports cards along with non sports cards such as YuGiOh, Magic the Gathering and Pokemon.

By late 2016 and into 2018 Magic the Gathering and Pokemon were almost outselling sports cards and comics. At card shows and Comic Cons however, Pokemon hands down was our best seller. So we began purchasing much more Pokemon both from suppliers and individuals who were willing to sell their collections.

In 2019, our shop literally was too small to handle our inventory. We needed more space, so in July my wife and I bought out our partner and moved to our current location and that’s how House of Cards and Collectibles, LLC came to be.

We opened in October 2019.

Our focus is Pokemon, Pokemon, Pokemon. We feel confident that our Pokemon inventory is the largest in San Antonio and we have been told our selection is even better than other state wide locations.  We have hundreds if not thousands of single cards from vintage to current. We not only have all the new English Pokemon releases but we also carry the largest selection of Japanese Pokemon cards as well.
